    Does Bobsled work on my machine and browser?

    A:

    Bobsled requires recent versions of Mac and Windows operating systems. In addition, Adobe Flash 10.0.2 or greater is required. The list of supported operating systems and browsers is below:

    How do I know if Bobsled is installed?

    A:

    Look for the Bobsled browser button in your browser. You can also try placing a call to a Facebook friend or phone number from bobsledapp.com. If your call goes through, Bobsled is fully installed and functioning. Otherwise, you’ll need to download and install Bobsled for your browser.

    What is the Bobsled browser button and how do I get it?

    A:

    The Bobsled browser button gives you one-click access to your friends no matter what you’re doing on your computer. It operates a little differently depending on what browser you’re using.

    • In Firefox and Safari, the button brings the active Bobsled window to the front. To get the button, install Bobsled in your browser and then look for the button next to your URL bar.
    • In Chrome, the button launches a new Bobsled window. To get the button for Chrome, visit Bobsledapp.com and click "Browser Button" on the lower right hand corner of the page.
    • In Internet Explorer, the button launches bobsledapp.com in a new tab. In IE, this button is hidden by default. To unhide the button go to the View menu, click on "Toolbars" and make sure that “Command Bar” is checked. Then look for the Command Bar is the toolbar bar in the upper right of your browser. You may see the Bobsled button there. If not, then click on the “>>” button. The Bobsled button should be there.

    Why do I need to install Bobsled in my browser before I can make a call?

    A:

    To give you one-click access to your friends in your browser, Bobsled needs you to install the browser extension that lets us put a button in your toolbar. Additionally, to provide you with the absolute best voice quality, Bobsled needs you to install our voice services package on your computer. This software is absolutely free and runs in the background. It lets your computer connect to the Bobsled voice servers and then to your friends.

    How do I take Bobsled with me while I surf the Web?

    A:

    Click the “On the Go” button in the top right corner of the Bobsled Bobsled window. The Bobsled window will pop out and become its own window that you can use to talk and chat while you surf.

    How do I talk to my friend using Bobsled?

    A:

    To place a call, launch Bobsled by clicking on the browser button or visiting the application page at http://bobsledapp.com/start. Use the Bobsled Bobsled window on the right side of the screen to select a friend and click on the “Call” button on the next screen. The person you call will receive a Facebook chat message from you with a link. When they click on the link, your call will be connected. Your friend does not need to have Bobsled installed to answer the call, but must accept Flash and Facebook permissions.

    How do I answer a call?

    A:

    Click the “Answer” button on the dialogue box appearing in the Bobsled window.

    If you are on Facebook, simply click on the link appearing in your chat window.

    If you can hear ringing but do not see the dialog, check other tabs or browser windows you have open to find the Bobsled window.

    Does my friend need to have Bobsled installed to answer?

    A:

    No. Your friend does not need to have Bobsled installed to answer the call.

    How does my friend answer a call?

    A:

    The person you call receives a Facebook chat message from you with a link. When they click on the link in the message, your call will be connected.

    If your friend does not answer, you can use Facebook chat to determine if they are available. See "How do I answer a call?" for more details.

    What happens if my friend doesn't pick up?

    A:

    You will hear ringing for about a minute, then you will be prompted to leave your friend an voice message that’s up to 45 seconds long. After you’re satisfied with your voice message, you can either post it to their wall or send it as a private message.

    Can I use Bobsled to make emergency calls?

    A:

    No. Bobsled is not a phone replacement service and can’t be used to place calls to 911 or 411.

    How do I leave a voice message?

    A:

    Select a friend and click “Call”, then select “Voice Message” from the drop down menu. Click “Record” to leave a voice message that’s up to 45 seconds.

    Use the “Record”, “Stop” and “Playback” buttons to record your message and preview it. If you want, add a note to it too!

    Once you've recorded your voice message, click “Finish” to send it either as a private message or as a wall posting everyone can listen to. Private messages will show up in your friend's Facebook inbox.

    Does Bobsled work on mobile devices?

    A:

    Yes. We have applications for both iOS (iPhone, iPad and iPod) and Android.

    Why do I get a “Sign On” screen every time I try to use Bobsled?

    A:

    Third-party cookies must be enabled to move across pages and keep your Facebook logged in. Some browsers have a security setting preventing third-party cookies. Change your security settings to ensure the “Sign On” screen doesn't appear:

    For Mozilla Firefox:
    Firefox toolbar -> Options -> Privacy Tab
    Under Firefox will "Use custom settings for history", check the box that says "Accept cookies from sites"
    Click "OK"

    I downloaded a previous version of Bobsled. How do I get the new version?

    A:

    Visit Bobsled.com and click on the download button to install the latest version. If you have Chrome, be sure to install the Bobsled browser button as well. For more information, see the FAQ item on "what is the Bobsled browser button and how do I get it?

    How do I uninstall Bobsled?

    A:

    The process of uninstalling is different across systems and browsers. Follow the instructions to remove Bobsled from your system for each operating system:

    For Windows:
    Click Start -> All Programs -> Bobsled by T-Mobile -> Uninstall Bobsled

    For Google Chrome with Windows:
    Go to extensions (type in chrome://extensions) and uninstall Bobsled by T-Mobile
    Click Start -> All Programs -> Bobsled by T-Mobile -> Uninstall Bobsled

    For Apple Safari with Mac:
    In terminal type in ~/Library/Vivox/VivoxHDNUninstall.sh
    Go to preferences -> extensions -> uninstall Bobsled by T-Mobile

    For Mozilla Firefox with Mac:
    In terminal type in ~/Library/Vivox/VivoxHDNUninstall.sh
    Go to tools -> add-ons -> extensions -> uninstall Bobsled by T-Mobile

    For Google Chrome with Mac:
    In terminal type in ~/Library/Vivox/VivoxHDNUninstall.sh
    Go to extensions (type in chrome:extensions) and uninstall Bobsled by T-Mobile
    Note: To access a terminal on a Mac, in the Finder, go to Applications/Utilities.

    What can I do if I'm experiencing poor audio quality?

    A:

    For the best possible quality, headphones are strongly recommended for you and the person you are speaking to.

    To test your speaker and microphone, click "Audio Setup" and walk through the setup guide. Select the proper microphone, click record and replay to hear how you sound.

  • Q:

    Why can no one hear me?

    A:

    Usually the person you called either has the speakers muted or your microphone is not properly configured. Verify you have a working microphone and that it has been correctly selected using the audio setup link in chat.

    You can test if it is correct by clicking the red record button, talking into your microphone and then playing it back when the red record button switches to the green play button.

    Why can I not hear my friend?

    A:

    This usually happens if your friend's microphone is not configured properly or your speakers are muted. Verify your speakers or headphones are plugged into the right connections and working correctly using the audio setup link in chat. Ask your friend to check their microphone setup using the audio setup link in chat.

    How do I call friends who aren't online?

    A:

    In order for you to call your friend, they should be logged into Facebook and be visible to you on chat.

    However, you can leave a voice message for any of your friends, whether they are available in Facebook chat or not. Go to the Bobsled application page, open up your Bobsled Bobsled window, select a friend from the list and click on the “Call” button to initiate a call. Click “Cancel” and follow the recording prompts to record your voice message.

    Why does my friend not answer?

    A:

    There are many reasons why your friend may not answer. To answer a call they need to be available for a call, aware of the call request and click to accept the call. You can find your friend's availability by using Facebook chat to send a message to your friend prior to starting a call. If your friend is available and attempting to answer, they must accept the inbound call request, grant the Facebook permissions and their computer must meet the system requirements listed in “Does Bobsled” work on my machine and browser?

    Can I still use Facebook while talking to someone?

    A:

    Yes! Open a new tab in your browser to keep the call connected.

  • Q:

    How do I contact support and get help for Bobsled?

    A:

    The user forum can answer many of your questions and lets you suggest new features or ways you'd like to use bobsled that aren't yet available. You may also submit a support request via the forum.

    Why can't I call regular phone numbers, or chat with Facebook friends from the iPhone andAndroid apps?

    A:

    We're working on building those features into the mobile apps. They'll be coming soon.

    Why must my voice messages be a minimum of 15 seconds long?

    A:

    Media clips need to be 15 seconds or longer for us to let your friend listen to the message from the wall.

    Why do voice messages I leave from the Android and iPhone apps always post publicly on my friend’s wall?

    A:

    This is due to a limitation in the way Facebook lets mobile applications interact with its messaging platform.

    Why is Internet Explorer giving me a "A script on this page is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly" error message when I visit bobsledapp.com?

    The length of time it takes for your friends list to load depends on how many friends you have, and how fast your computer is. Please be sure to click "no" on this error message to let your friends list finish loading.
